ABOUT

Matt is a 2 x RTS Cymru winning filmmaker from Anglesey, North Wales.

His work has featured at BAFTA qualifying film festivals, at award-winning theatres in London and Cardiff and his short film, BETWEEN THE HEADPHONES, which played globally at film festivals, features Welsh BAFTA nominee Hanna Jarman and Welsh BAFTA winning comedian Tudur Owen.

Matt has collaborated with companies such as London based Studio Hansa in developing and writing short animations, worked in writer's rooms with BAFTA winning producers and writers, and assisted with television companies such as Rondo Media & Darlun TV for S4C. Matt made his broadcast debut on Sky Arts in 2022 with GALWAD, where he was mentored by Kaite O'Reilly (The Almond & the Seahorse - starring Celyn Jones & Rebel Wilson). Matt's monologue, which was performed by Richard Harrington (Hinterland) was also released by FA Wales where it accumulated over 250k views across social media in its first few days.

Matt is trained in scriptwriting under the guidance of radio and children's writer, Dan Anthony, where he developed his first feature screenplay, a one-location crime film set in Anglesey, which has since been optioned by a BIFA nominated production company. He is also trained in concept development and filmmaking under the guidance of producer Geraint Ellis and documentary filmmaker Joanna Wright, achieving a DISTINCTION in his masters degree at Bangor University in 2021.

Matt has worked on several short films, including BBC productions, working closely alongside the likes of Steve Speirs, Claire Cage and Julian Lewis Jones. 

He is currently promoting his latest documentary, A RAY OF HOPE: HAWFC - THE GYM OF CHAMPIONS, following Wales' most successful weightlifting gym, but exploring why it is more than just a medal factory. It is currently in film festivals.

 

Recently, he is an executive producer on the short film HOUSEWARMING by BAFTA long-listed filmmaker Liam White and starring Charly Clive (Pure, The Lazarus Project) and Barry Ward (The Capture, Extra Ordinary, The End of the F***ing World). Also, Matt is an associate producer on FUDGE SUNDAY which is being executively produced by BAFTA winning writer and director, Jon S. Baird (Tetris, Filth, Stan & Ollie) and is written and directed by Georgia Redman.
